Lego 2K: Stargaze Summit

Environment concepts for the snowy themed biome for Lego 2K Drive. This eventually became know as Stargaze Summit. In this particular Legoverse, the world building approach is the hint at the whole world being part of a kid's backyard, so the buildings and townscapes are at Lego scale, but they're dotted with full scale real world items, blending reality and imagination. What I really like about this game is how much fun it is to just go off and explore the environment and see what you can drive on, jump one, ramp off of. I try to create alternate paths, improvised ramp surfaces, and fun obstacles so no matter where you go, you're never stuck for going on a fun drive.

Themed on a ski resort. Even though all the environments are essentially gated by mountains/hills/ice, I try to indicate that there's always something beyond this remote location, so I added a train and ski lift that you could use for fast traveling.

Inspired by the Lego Arctic Explorers, the idea was that this is a bay of water that gets sealed off by ice during the coldest parts of the year. I tried hard to use the floating icebergs as fun driving challenges.

I'm always looking for opportunities to add hidden or secret areas to encourage exploration and create pocket environments.

The viking fishing village! This was actually the first concept I created where I tested out a lot of the design principles that go into designing a Lego biome.

I created a bunch of smaller scale environments with less items as an alternate, less complicated solution to creating an ice landscape. This is first of three designed to have less breakable lego elements in it.
